Program Overview

Empower Outdoors is an 8-week outdoor-based program designed to help kids build confidence, resilience, self-awareness, and essential outdoor skills—all while having fun in nature. Sessions are held once a week for two hours in the beautiful Hobble Creek Canyon  in Springville, Utah.

Each group is intentionally kept small—no more than 10 kids per class with 2 trained instructors—to ensure safety, connection, and individualized attention.

During the program, kids learn:

  • Foundational outdoor skills like navigation, shelter building, fire safety, Leave No Trace principles, basic first aid, hiking basics, and more

  • Emotional awareness skills through nature-based activities that help kids recognize, understand, and express their emotions in healthy ways

  • Problem-solving and teamwork, practiced through hands-on challenges and guided group experiences

  • Confidence building by learning new skills, overcoming manageable challenges, and spending time outdoors

  • Healthy coping and grounding skills that kids can use in everyday life

Empower Outdoors is not therapy, but it is a supportive educational experience. Activities are designed by a mental health professional to promote emotional growth, self-esteem, and a healthy connection to the outdoors.

The program is ideal for kids who love being outside, want to learn new skills, want to improve confidence, need more time away from screens, or simply benefit from structure.

Empower Outdoors gives kids a chance to explore, learn, and grow—one adventure at a time.
